Charming Stay in the Heart of Nature

A delightful stay with well-appointed rooms and a fantastic breakfast. Loved the thoughtful inclusion of fresh milk for tea and the smart TV with Netflix for cozy evenings. The walk to Lyndhurst felt refreshing, perfect for indulging in local cafes. Remember to mind the stair height if you're tall!

Our stay lasted three nights, and it was such a peaceful getaway. The room we had was very clean and modern, equipped with a big comfortable bed that made it easy to unwind after exploring the area. The breakfast was excellent, especially the scrambled eggs, and being only a short walk away from the main street made it convenient to enjoy local dining options. We truly appreciated the parking availability, which was a plus for our biking adventures in the New Forest.

Headroom in the stairs posed a problem for anyone over six feet, bumping heads on the way down. The bathroom sink was partially blocked by a large shelf above it, and the breakfast room's irritating tweeting bird music was off-putting. Parking facilities fell short for the number of guests, relying on a first-come, first-serve system, which could lead to some hassle.

Breakfast was spot-on, featuring a full English that set us up for the day. Just a stroll from local gems like Passage To India and The Thai Forest for dinner—happy days! Our room was pristine, and the hosts were top-notch, making us feel right at home.

While everything shined, the pre-arrival texts could've been a tad more personal, and our host didn't introduce himself. Traffic through town adds a cheeky 15 minutes to the journey, so plan for it!

A delightful breakfast surprise

Avalon House offered a wonderful stay! The hosts Judith and Nick were incredibly welcoming, engaging us in delightful conversations. Breakfast was a highlight, featuring locally sourced ingredients and generous portions. The room was modern, with a comfy bed and thoughtful amenities like fresh milk for tea. Plus, a brief stroll led us to Lyndhurst's charming shops and cafes, making it perfectly located for exploring.

If you're tall, be mindful of the stair height. my partner bumped his head a couple of times. I felt a touch more luggage space would enhance the room's comfort, as it was a bit tight for our bags.

All fine, but accessibility issue

Traffic noise from the A337 could be bothersome, especially at night when the windows were open. Limited parking space meant that finding a spot could be tricky, and the room sizes left a little to be desired, with some feeling on the smaller side. I noticed some minor maintenance issues, like wobbly taps, and a breakfast mishap related to hair in the food which wasn't addressed to satisfaction. It felt like checkout at 10:30 AM pushed for a rushed departure, and the pre-arrival communication lacked a personal touch, coming off as somewhat impersonal. Lastly, I thought the decor elements, particularly background music during breakfast, could use some refinement.

The smart TV with NETFLIX made our evenings cozy. fresh milk for tea and a spotlessly clean room were fantastic!

avalon house was an amazin place to stay! nick is super helpful and made us feel right at home. the breakfast was delicious, with a good choice on the menu. loved that we could take our bikes and he kept them safe for us. location is perfect for exploring the new forest, just a short walk to everything in lyndhurst.

only complaint was that there wasn’t much space to put our luggage in the room. could have used some more hooks or shelves.
